The highly anticipated September 14th match up featuring Texas A&M hosting Alabama will highlight the Aggies 2013 football schedule that includes an eight game home slate.
Excitement for the Aggies vs. Crimson Tide football contest has been brewing throughout the offseason. CBS Sports has already announced that their first 2013 SEC national broadcast feature the two SEC West Division foes.
With the 2012 defending national champions wanting revenge for last year’s stunning upset by the Aggies, emotions will be high on both sides. Merchandisers are already getting excited knowing that fans will be seeking plenty of Texas A&M vs. Alabama Gameday T-Shirts to wear for the game.
Based on what happened last season last season expect a white-hot spotlight to be shining on the gameday developments in College Station. Alabama will be seeking revenge for the 29-24 loss that Johnny “Football” Manziel and company handed them in Tuscaloosa.
The Aggies upset of Alabama lifted Manziel to elite Heisman status as the freshman passed for 253 yards and two TD’s while rushing for 92 yards.
Although, the Crimson Tide recovered and still won a national championship, the loss still stings in T-Town. Alabama will be eager for redemption and Nick Saban and company will be intent on establishing early season dominance.
Texas A&M will be looking for another knock out of the Crimson Tide with hopes of leapfrogging Bama into SEC supremacy. Coach Kevin Sumlin’s squad is in its second SEC season and Aggie football is working towards achieving its first conference crown since 1998.
With A&M new to the conference many football pundits are unaware of the history these two schools share. Before last season’s game, the teams had met four previous times with Alabama winning three of those games. Legendary coach Bear Bryant also left Texas A&M to take the head coaching position at Alabama in 1958.
While the Alabama game is circled on the calendar, the Aggies schedule includes plenty of hard-hitting action. The season opens up with an (8/31) home game against Rice and is followed by three straight home games, (9/7) Sam Houston State, (9/14) Alabama and (9/21) vs. SMU.
The Aggies hit the road for the first time with a (9/28) contest at Arkansas and after an open date visit Ole Miss on (10/12). A four week home tour then follows with a (10/19) match up against Auburn, (10/26) vs. Vanderbilt, (11/9) vs. Mississippi State and the 2013 home finale vs. New Mexico.
The season’s stretch run includes two road games with Texas A&M at LSU on (11/23) and Missouri on (11/30).
