Once Auburn officials became aware of how dire the posioning of the Toomer's Corner's Oak trees was, great thought and planning was initiated towards finding a suitable replacement for the dying trees.
When an Alabama fan poisoned the Toomer's Corner oaks following the 2010 Iron Bowl, the beloved and toilet paper filled trees were living on borrowed time. The University then had to plan for a future place where fans could celebrate Tiger victories. Those plans will be unveiled on Saturday April 20, 2013, following the A-Day football game. The famed oaks will be removed on April 23rd.
The planning of new landscaping has been a community effort. More that 10,000 Auburn supporters have provided input through an online survey that was done by the Auburn University Campus Planning and Space Management and two landscape architecture firms – Nelson Byrd Woltz and jB+a.
