Prior to the projected 2013 BCS Championship matchup, Auburn and Florida State have met 18 times on the football field with the Tigers holding a decisive lead in the series.

Auburn vs. Florida State Series History

Auburn and FSU first met on the football field in 1954 and last played in 1990. The Tigers lead the series by an 13-4-1 margin.

Auburn won nine of the first 10 meetings with a 1962 14-14 tie within that span from 1954 through 1976.

FSU tasted victory for the first time in the series when the Seminoles upended Auburn 24-3 in 1977. Under the direction of Bobby Bowden, Florida State won three of the last four games in the series in 1987-89. The 1987 and '88 games were actually in the same season. FSU won the November 7th regular season matchup by a 34-6 margin. The two teams met again on January 2nd in the Sugar Bowl with the Seminoles winning again by a 13-7 score.

Auburn edged Florida State in the last game of the series by a 20-17 score in 1990.
