The TCU football program has produced legends that have won college football's top individual honors and players that have earned induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame!

TCU Football Legends and History

TCU first hit the football field in 1896 and since then has won national championships and produced a tremendous lineup of football legends

The Horned Frogs won national championships in 1935 and 1938 under the direction of head coach Dutch Meyer. The 1935 squad posted a 12-1 record while the 1938 team earned an 11-0 undefeated season. Both of Meyer's championship squads ended the season with Sugar Bowl victories.

TCU has one Heisman Trophy winner. Davey O'Brien won the award in 1938. O'Brien passed for 1,457 yards and 19 TD's that season as Texas Christian University outscored their opponents by a 269-60 margin.

TCU Pro Football Hall of Fame members from include QB Sammy Baugh who played for the Washington Redskins from 1937-52. Baugh was inducted into the hall in 1963. Bob Lilly was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980. He was a dominating member of the Dallas Cowboys defense under Tom Landry. Lilly played for the Cowboys from 1961-74.

NFL Most Valuable Player Award winners from TCU include LaDainian Tomlinson who won the award as a RB for the San Diego Chargers in 2006.

Texas Christian University Super Bowl MVP award winners include Larry Brown who was the game's MVP for the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl XXX. Brown intercepted two passes in the game and is one of the few defensive players in NFL history to win the award.
