Congratulations to UVA for capturing the No. 6 overall Super Seed in the 2013 NCAA Baseball Tournament!

6/2/13 update: Virginia wins the Charlottesville Regional: The cavs swept through the NCAA regional and in three wins allowed only four runs. The Cavs have now advanced to the super regionals for the 4th time in 5 years. Virginia will host the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the best 2 of 3 games series.

The Cavaliers finished the regular season on a strong note by taking two of three at highly ranked North Carolina. Virginia also built momentum towards a possible CWS Run by sweeping Florida State in a late-April series.

Building further anticipation for a strong run towards wearing Virginia 2013 College World Series shirts in Omaha, were the announcements from the 2013 ACC Baseball honors. Cavaliers outfielder Joe McCarthy was named the ACC Freshman of the Year, while the teams head coach, Brian O’Connor was named the ACC Coach of the Year for the third time in the last four seasons.

UVA Offensvive Sparkplug: Freshman Joe McCarthy, 6-3/225 from Scranton, Pa., batted .333 with 47 RBI and 65 hits in the regular season while primarily serving as UVA'a three-hole hitter. He started 52 games and reached base safely in 49 games.

UVA CWS History: The Cavaliers have advanced to Omaha twice in the programs history. Virginia's two College World appearances were in 2009 and 2011.
